Marine Activities Offered by Sea Hornet D.C.
We offer two main activities: scuba diving and snorkeling. Scuba diving is available year-round, while snorkeling is best enjoyed between June and October—especially during summer. Let’s explore what each activity offers on Oshima Island.
Scuba Diving (Certified Divers, Year-Round)
Izu Oshima is one of the few places where you can see hammerhead sharks without the need for drift diving—something usually reserved for advanced divers. Here, even intermediate divers have the chance to witness them. And there's more than just hammerheads.
Depending on the season and dive site, you may also encounter thresher sharks, sea turtles, moray eels, schools of sardines, and a variety of colorful tropical fish. Combined with lava arches and volcanic rock formations, this dive site offers a rich and visually stunning experience.

Snorkeling (June - October)
Want to enjoy the ocean without going deep? Snorkeling is a fun and easy way to explore the coastal waters of Oshima Island. You can see vibrant tropical fish, along with species like grunt fish, damselfish, opaleye, and pufferfish.
Sea Hornet D.C. offers guided snorkeling tours that include about one hour in the water. Our experienced local instructors will teach you how to swim and breathe properly—perfect for beginners.
We provide full rental gear, including wetsuits, masks, snorkels, fins, and boots. Life jackets for children are also available, making this a great activity for families.
Accommodations & Meals
Looking for a comfortable place to stay while enjoying your diving or snorkeling adventure on Oshima Island? Our cozy, log-style accommodation—fully renovated in 2022—is the ideal choice.
We offer 10 private cabins:
- 5 larger cabins (sleep up to four guests or three adults comfortably), each with a bunk bed and two futons (Japanese-style mattresses)
- 5 smaller cabins, perfect for couples or solo travelers, with one single bed and one futon
Each stay includes both dinner and breakfast, so you won’t need to worry about crowded restaurants during peak season. A BBQ option is available for an extra fee.
We also offer free pick-up and drop-off at the port or airport, making access to the lodge simple and stress-free.

2. Scuba Diving Without Accommodations & Meals

3. Snorkling Course
– ¥7,000 (tax included)
– Total experience time: 3 hours
– Snorkeling time: approximately 1 hour
– Includes wetsuit (and life jackets for children), mask, snorkel, fins, and boots
– ¥2,500 for full equipment with wetsuit
– ¥4,500 for full equipment with drysuit
On the day of the reservation: 80% of the fee
From 3 days before: 50% of the fee
