Enjoy island life with a view on the ocean. At Villa Thalassa on Oshima Island, you can spend your days in just like that. The house, which can accommodate up to five people with views on both Mt. Fuji and the sea from the bedroom and bathroom, is available to rent as a whole.
A Perfect Blend Of Japanese And Western Aesthetics
Villa Thalassa was built after the owner of the property fell in love with Oshima island. At first, it was meant to be used as his private holiday home, but in time he wanted to see that more people could experience Oshima’s nature, as well as the fantastic view from the house, which lead to him opening it up as an accommodation.
A Giant Bath With A View Of Mt. Fuji And The Ocean!
You must try out the bath at Villa Thalassa, situated in a building adjacent to the house. The large bath tub will accommodate up to three people. Light some candles to enjoy a nice relaxing candle bath. On a nice day Mt. Fuji can be seen clearly, and you can enjoy your bath with a view that is unparalleled.
Japanese Style Bedrooms
There are two bedrooms at Villa Thalassa. As both are laid out with tatami mats, you get to experience authentic Japanese culture and sleep on traditional futons. One large bedroom that can fit 3 people comes with a view of Mt Fuji. A view so beautiful you can stare at it all day, and you can have it all to yourself at this incredible place. The second room is somewhat smaller and designed for two people. As the house is located in a secluded area away from the town center, it’s perfect for those wanting to take things slow.
A Comfortable Sofa In The Living Room
There’s a table and sofa that seats two people in the living room. The sofa is very comfy and you risk losing track of time relaxing on it. The house also comes with a kitchen and many of the guests buy groceries at the supermarket to cook their own dinner.
Cook Your Own Meal in The Kitchen
For those planning on staying on Oshima for a longer duration, the kitchen is super convenient. Tableware and seasonings are provided, so if you don't feel like eating out or you just want to take it easy and stay at home for dinner, the kitchen allows for great flexibility of your schedule. While there’s a store nearby, the Motomachi Port area with plenty of supermarkets is just a seven minute drive away.
How To Get There
The house is a seven minute drive from Motomachi Port (the larger of the two on the island), 20 minutes from Okada Port, or 15 minutes from Oshima Airport. Oshima itself is small enough to be driven around in just one hour, we recommend either renting a car or a moped. For those who can’t drive, the bus is the best way to get to the house. The house is a 7 minutes walk from the ‘Nomashi’ bus stop. While there is one bus every hour, it stops running late in the afternoon, after which you can walk or take a cab.
Pricing And How To book
Reservations can be made through booking.com. The maximum capacity is five people, but as you book the entire house the cost of the house remains the same regardless of the number of guests. Enjoy staying at a private house with a view of the ocean all to yourself at Villa Thalassa. A must for those looking to get away from the city and relax whilst on holiday.
