Camping lightly! Playing to your heart’s content in unscathed nature

For those looking to travel light, we recommend Umi-no-furusato-mura. Here, tents can be pre-pitched for you, so you can rent a tent rather than having to bring your own.
There’s also a warm shower that was set up fairly recently, so you can play all you want in the wild without worries of staying clean.
Shampoo and body soap are provided, so all you need to bring are bath towels.

・To stay at a pre-pitched tent, the cost is 4,000 yen for a tent with a 6 person capacity plus an additional 300 yen per person
・To pitch your own tent, the cost is 2,000 yen for a tent with a 5 person capacity plus an additional 200 yen per person

Facilities on-site include a campfire circle, swimming pool (open July 20th - August 30th), and tennis court. As there’s also a beach closeby, there are plenty of activities to keep you busy.
For those wanting to barbecue, if you call ahead they will let you know of a store nearby to stock up on groceries.

If you take the public bus to the Oshima Park bus stop, they will give you a free ride to Umi-no-furusato village. During peak summer season (July 20th - August 31st), they also offer free pickup and drop off from the ferry port, so it’s worth calling at least a day before to book your stay.

Toshiki Camping Ground

Ocean and mountain views! Pack your favorite tent and go!

If you prefer sleeping in your own tent surrounded by nature, or want lots of space to run around in, our recommendation would be Toshiki Camping Ground.
Located in an area called Sashikiji in the southern portion of the island, Toshiki Camping Ground is a half drive from Motomachi Port, and 45 minutes from Okata Port.
The grounds is spacious and the grass well kept. With Toshiki beach nearby, it’s conveniently located for those wanting to swim or snorkel as well. As it’s also a diving spot, expect to spot lots of fish.

Unusual for a campsite, the place comes complete with toilet, running water and shower as well as separate trash and recycling bins, making for a comfortable stay (Be aware that showers aren’t partitioned).
While barbecuing is allowed, there are no supermarket nearby to stock up on ingredients so it’s necessary to drive closer to Motomachi Port for ingredients. It’s best to pick up some groceries on your way to the campsite. The grounds can be used for free but requires booking in advance. Bookings can be made by calling (+81) 04992-2-1446.
