Tokyoislands is surrounded by beautifully blue seas. On a good day, the water is so clear you can see 30m ahead underwater, making for superb conditions to go diving or snorkeling.
One of the reasons why the islands have such clear waters is the Kuroshio, or Black Tide. Kuroshio is an ocean current that travels from more than a thousand miles south of Japan. The current has very few planktons, and above average water temperatures. It is thanks to this current that the water around the Tokyoislands is so clear, and why the water temperature is mild year round.
Also, according to government research, the water around the islands is worthy of the highest ratings on water quality checks.
So we see that the ocean at Tokyoislands has very favorable conditions. That said, the environment can differ from one island to another.
Around the more southern islands most affected by the ocean current, you will see many tropical fish and corals. This is due to the fact that the ocean current carries with it their eggs.
The islands located further north tend to have calmer waves, making them ideal for swimming in the summer.
Tokyoislands is so close to the city that it really is worth experiencing for yourself the beauty of these clear waters.
